Drupal Specific Design: A Template Approach. Nica Lorber, Chapter Three
My first session a Design4Drupal camp at Stanford University was "Drupal Specific Design."
The class introduced a systemized approach using Fireworks template to speed up and streamline the production process. The template was used as a starting point or a finishing point depending on the size of the progect. It is an enhancement to the workflow not a replacement for it, ensuring that no key elements are missed.
The class suggests that using the old approach of creating a wireframe, and then designing a final composition of the front page and several key sub pages left the tabs, header, footer, H1 - H4, body, Links, etc. unfinished or just the same in every site built.
This problem could be addressed by using the Fireworks application and quickly design those elements too.
The instructor, Nica Lorber, wrote a blog about class. http://www.chapterthree.com/chapter_three_themes/design_growth She offeres the template for download there.
